Rotarians from Chemainus have been volunteering in San Antonio Palopo (SAP) on the shores of Lake Atitlan in Guatemala since 2014. Every year a team of 6-8 Rotarians and friends have travelled to SAP in February or March for two weeks to help Mayan families needing homes and other necessities like gas stoves, children’s shoes and nutritional supplements. We work with a local women’s volunteer group to select families of highest needs and get the recipients involved in helping with our projects.
